OUR LAND IS SEA, RIVER AND HILL, WIND AND SKY. SANDS AND STONE. IT IS MADE UP OF FOOTSTEPS AMONG THE ROWS, A TASTE OF THE GRAPES AND REVELATIONS.
We are inside a natural amphitheater of ancient alluvial origin, protected on all sides by wooded hills that rise up to 400 meters above sea level and that withhold the sea breeze.
The Libeccio and the Mistral winds constantly caress the grapes, carrying the memory of the sea and ensuring a healthy and crunchy fruit.
Even the light is different in Bolgheri, a place set between the beach and the first slopes of the hinterland; a brightness spread by the sea and that accomodates a constant and delicate form of sunlight, with beneficial effects on the vines and the perfect ripening of the bunches.
MICROTERROIR AND PLOTS

These are soils with great complexity and finesse, which have been enhanced through an attentive analysis of the land, aiming at favoring the rational zoning of the estate’s property.
Campo alla Sughera has been divided into areas based on their predisposition, each dedicated to expressing a particular nuance of the Bolgheri vines grown here: their perfect expression contributes to the creation of wines with a strong territorial identity.
Campo alla Sughera’s rational zoning allows to harvest the highest quality from each microterroir and each plot that are at the peak of their true expression, bringing perfect fruits to the cellar.
DEFENDING THE ESSENTIAL
THERE IS NOTHING SUPERFLUOUS IN CAMPO ALLA SUGHERA, BUT NOTHING IS LEFT TO CHANCE.
Respect for the expressiveness of the vines passes through a detailed planning of operations in the vineyard, in close contact with the needs of the vine and respect for its ecosystem. A global idea that translates into targeted and concrete actions to promote maximum vigor and perfect health of each plant.
THE MÉDOCAINE METHOD
The Mediterranean vocation and the international spirit of Campo alla Sughera wines find their glorification in the médocaine method, a viticultural system adopted by the best Bordeaux chateaux.
The high density of the plants – i.e. a large number of plants per hectare – helps in increasing competition between the plants, whose roots reach the deeper layers of the soil that are rich in microelements. Thanks to this farming technique, the vine specializes in fruit production, reducing leaf reproduction and concentrating the polyphenolic and aromatic qualities in smaller berries with thicker skin.
PETIT VERDOT
Listening to the vineyards means giving them a voice, even when they have something unexpected to say.
This is the case of Petit Verdot, a vine that has shown its outstanding natural capacity in Campo alla Sughera. The warmer and more protected climate of Bolgheri, the sea breeze and the composite texture of the soil have unleashed the potential of the variety which, year after year, has established itself for quality, full fruit maturity and tannic finesse. A pleasant surprise that Campo alla Sughera has consciously supported while creating its most iconic Super Tuscan, the one bearing the winery’s name on the label: a courageous hymn to the local Petit Verdot, an act of proud courage and sensitivity towards an increasingly characteristic wine.
